Bwcon is one of the most successful industry networks in Europe and also the leading economic programme to promote the use of IT in the high tech location, Baden-Württemberg. Approximately 400 highly committed companies, academies, research establishments, as well as IT users have joined forces in bwcon. About 3.000 experts are networked through their membership of the bwcon initiative. They use bwcon as a platform for communication and cooperation. In order to boost innovation and sustainable growth. Bwcon focuses on three main strategic issues: Science meets Industry, IT-Solutions and Formation of Company/Expansion.

Together with the provincial government of Baden-Württemberg, a program was initiated and developed to give new impetus to software development. Its objectives are to expand research activities and to enhance the companies’ competitiveness. Split into five Special Interest Groups, members of the network work on subjects such as Open Source Software, Financial Services, E-Learning, Distribution and CRM as well as initiating new projects.
