Viasuisse wins the category "Best Added Value".
Stuttgart, 21.10.2005. The Voice Award 2005 in the category "Best Added
Value" went to traffic information system "InfoTraffic" of Swiss company
Viasuisse. The system was developed by EXCELSIS together with Swisscom. The
ceremony took place on the 20th October as part of the symposium Voice Day 2005
in the old House of Parliament in Bonn [Germany]. By calling the Swiss speed
dial number 163 [from outside Switzerland: +41 848 800 163], travellers can
access up-to-date traffic information anytime, anywhere and can thus better plan
their journey and travel times.
The jury, chaired by Prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, Head of the German Research
Institute for Artificial Intelligence, awarded the prize to the traffic
information system as the "best German language voice application in the field
of public telephone services and premium voice portals". The multilingual
function of the system was particularly highlighted. Further criteria were the
ease of use of the dialogues and the integrated approach in offering information
for various traffic routes in Switzerland. "We are happy for Viasuisse and
congratulate our client on winning this award" said Christian Sauter, CEO of
EXCELSIS.
Viasuisse provides an important building block in intelligent traffic routing
for transit country Switzerland with "InfoTraffic". The acceptance of
"InfoTraffic" is exceeding all expectations. With up to 30.000 calls per day,
the system has also proved its very high performance capability from a technical
point of view. "InfoTraffic" is a voice application of the latest generation
which easily and efficiently delivers information on motorways, road passes,
loading stations and on delays in rail traffic. The operation by natural
language allows the use of hands-free speaking systems so that the driver can
inform him-/herself safely and comfortably even while driving. The notifications
are updated every three minutes in order to provide the user with the most
current information. Navigation and all traffic messages are available in three
languages: German, French and Italian and thus allow the user to chose his
preferred language.
