PostFinance, Switzerland banks on Insonic for it’s Speech
Solutions EXCELSIS subsidiary Insonic form consortium with Swisscom and
Voxpilot
Zürich, 21.9.2004. The EXCELSIS subsidiary Insonic has formed a consortium
with Swisscom and Voxpilot to develop an innovate four language speech dialog
solution for the Swiss PostFinance. Insonic is responsible for the development
of the software application. The solution makes use of the latest release of the
Insonic Speech Solutions Platform.
According to the press release from Swisscom: "In the future it will be even
easier for PostFinance’s over two million customers to request details of
account balances, transactions, stock prices over the telephone. […] More than
200,000 calls a month are expected. By 2005, customers having to press keys on
the telephone keypad will have become be a thing of the past. Customers can use
their own voice to request account details and financial information."
The speech application offers the caller the following functionality:
- Account Balance
- Details of the last 20 transactions
- Transfers
- Stock Prices
- Canceling lost and stolen Postcards
- Quick access to customer service for personal assistance
"The application is available to all customers of PostFinance and is
optimally aligned with their multi-distribution strategy. Access is via the
standard Business number at regular call prices and is protected from
unauthorized access via a PIN-Code. The information is available in four
languages [English, German, French and Italian]. PostFinance is the leader in
money transfers in Switzerland. More than 2 million customers profit from the
comprehensive product and services palette that PostFinance offers. Swisscom
Systems has been offering modern services in the development and maintenance of
speech applications since the beginning of 2004. Technologies such as Automatic
Speech Recognition [ASR] and Text to Speech [TTS] open up a multitude of
possible practical applications. These developments convinced PostFinance to
replace its existing telephone keypad based system. With the new speech
applications from Swisscom Sytems, PostFinance is offering their customers
simple and fast access to their account information. Improving usability is
expected to increase the associated customer satisfaction."
