According to the press release from Swisscom: "In the future it will be even easier for PostFinance’s over two million customers to request details of account balances, transactions, stock prices over the telephone. […] More than 200,000 calls a month are expected. By 2005, customers having to press keys on the telephone keypad will have become be a thing of the past. Customers can use their own voice to request account details and financial information."

The speech application offers the caller the following functionality:

  •  Account Balance
  •  Details of the last 20 transactions
  •  Transfers
  •  Stock Prices
  •  Canceling lost and stolen Postcards
  •  Quick access to customer service for personal assistance

"The application is available to all customers of PostFinance and is optimally aligned with their multi-distribution strategy. Access is via the standard Business number at regular call prices and is protected from unauthorized access via a PIN-Code. The information is available in four languages [English, German, French and Italian]. PostFinance is the leader in money transfers in Switzerland. More than 2 million customers profit from the comprehensive product and services palette that PostFinance offers. Swisscom Systems has been offering modern services in the development and maintenance of speech applications since the beginning of 2004. Technologies such as Automatic Speech Recognition [ASR] and Text to Speech [TTS] open up a multitude of possible practical applications.
