The
Landesbank Baden-Württemberg [LBBW - State Bank of the State of Baden-Württemberg]
is an international business bank with a
pronounced retail and wholesale business. It is the
central bank of the savings banks in Baden-Württemberg. In the urban
area of Stuttgart, it performs the tasks of a savings bank.
The state of Baden-Württemberg has a 39.5% stake in the
LBBW's capital stock, the Sparkassen Verband Baden-Württemberg [Savings
Bank Association Baden-Württemberg] a 39.5% interest and the regional capital
of Stuttgart 21%. With its total assets, 199 branches in Baden-Württemberg
and further bases in all of Germany's important centers as well as
about 10,000 staff members, it is the largest bank in south-west
Germany. In the Federal Republic of Germany, it is one of the ten largest financial
institutions, and one of the world's 50 largest banks.
