Healthcare: Telemedicine - Sanvartis relies on Excelsis voice portal
Example for the collaboration of a voice-controlled telemonitoring solution and a telemedical service centre
Stuttgart, 04/27/2009 – Sanvartis telemedical service centre and Excelsis cooperate in order to offer a joint voice portal solution for the efficient and economic medical attendance to patients. The integrated solution is a combination of an Excelsis voice portal and Sanvartis’ telemedical services.
Two out of three patients that suffer from one of the widespread diseases like asthma, hypertension, diabetes or rheumatism do not take their medication as prescribed. Patients taking part in so-called structured medical attendance programs via telemonitoring are contacted regularly by specially trained medical staff. This helps patients to better deal with their disease and to follow medical advice more easily.
The solution links two components: The Excelsis telemonitoring voice portal and the Sanvartis medical service centre. Participants of various telemonitoring programs enter their data quickly and easily by phone and confirm they took their medicine. The application immediately checks the data collected against threshold values defined ex ante and, depending on the results, takes specific actions.
If the caller confirmed he properly took all medication and his input values do not exceed the threshold values defined, he can end the call or alternatively get connected to an agent of the telemedical service centre. In case any threshold value is exceeded, the caller is automatically connected to a specially trained staff member of the telemedical service centre.
All parties involved benefit from this approach. In contrast to classical telemonitoring, patients can use proven and cheap measuring equipment they are used to and get into contact with the service centre regularly. Since no special hardware or infrastructure is necessary, significant savings can be realised.This leaves room to service enhancements.
